sustainability
Marion Street Cheese Market celebrates culinary creativity by nourishing our community with exceptional food and outstanding service – provided with sustainability in mind.

  • Amazing artisan cheese from local farms and renowned cheesemakers throughout the United States and Europe.
  • Fine wines that are eclectic, well-rounded, off the beaten path and unpretentious in a comfortable setting.
  • Craft beer – brewed in small batches using traditional methods and ingredients.
  • Farm fresh, organic produce from local growers.

Our menus feature Green Acres produce, Seedling Orchard fruits, TJ’s eggs and poultry, Duroc bacon, Becker Lane Organic Pork, Kilgus Farms Dairy, Labriola Breads, Rare Bird Preserves and items that are sourced with a focus on local, seasonal, organic, sustainable, and delicious ingredients – many available in our retail department.

Words like green and sustainable have become engrained in our society’s vernacular over the past few year. But that doesn’t make them any less important today. Marion Street Cheese Market has expanded its business and scope with these ideals in mind. Here’s how we’re trying to do our part:

Chairs: Our chairs are crafted from manufacturer’s seatbelt remnants, saved from the landfill.

Walls: All millwork comes from certified, sustainable cherry wood grown in Midwest forests.

Floors: The floors are crafted from porcelain, are extremely durable and will last well over 20 years.

Bar Tops/Counter Tops: All made with recycled glass.

Linens: Aprons are made from organic cotton grown in California.

Food: We look to source our produce, meats, cheeses, butters and milks from local provider’s first.

Coolers: Our coolers are energy star rated.

Recycling: Marion Street Cheese Market recycles glass and attempts to use compostable containers and cups.

Compost: We are working to become a Zero Waste Kitchen with a local group, Seven Generations Ahead. It will also include a composting program.

Cheese/Meat Platters & Trays: The trays we use are crafted from renewable, recyclable corrugated or solid paperboard materials.  They can even be composted in your backyard composter!
